Good/fair prices, lots of hidden gems and new releases to find. Nice atmosphere. The people in charge aren't jerks, and this might be the only real "record store" left in town as far as I know.

Super laid back and eager to connect people with all kinds of music new and old. Great place to lounge and have a conversation when your fingers are tired of walking through the "gold mine " of vinyl available. Haven't seen anything this hip since SunBurst closed!
Buy Local! And Vertical House is as local as it gets.... there's nowhere else in town with the selection of vinyl. Some of the corporate stores are stocking new vinyl records, but for some of us, analog records never went away. Vertical House is our type of place. Andy and Ashley sponsor local shows, and promote local art.

Thank goodness that the Valley has a real record shop! Cozier and more inviting than any of its predecessors, Vertical House stands out because it not only features used vinyl of all the classics you'd want (and there are a lot of used classics if you have the time to dig) but also has a well-curated selection of new indie music that you probably won't find elsewhere in town. It is also, without a doubt, the best central location to pick up all of the things that are going on locally in the North Alabama's lush underground. On top of all of this, the proprietors are friendly, they've got a small kitten you can pet, and sometimes they have free shows. Seriously - what competes with Vertical House?
